Let me first say that technology has become amazingly efficient hasn’t it? 20 years ago, when I was a little guy playing with my G.I Joes and watching He-man, local realtors were relegated to using a massive scary book to view listings. Many times, houses had been purchased or sold previously and it was hard to tell what really was still actively on the real estate market. Flash forward to the present. Our lives are so plugged in; we don’t know what we’d do without being able to check facebook and the stock market every 15 minutes….or maybe that’s just me.
Well, Dallas real estate has been no exception. It has followed suit in today’s rapidly changing world. We now have the Multiple Listing Service (MLS search) which is the local real estate agents database to find listings in real time for you. For the prospective buyer, the computer will give you as much information as you care to ask. How many owners have there been? Go to the city tax appraisals site. How much square footage does a home have? Go to Realtor.com. What are the current mortgage rates? Go to Instant Quote Store. Do you want to ask a real estate agent a question on the internet, Trulia.com is helpful. What kind of car did the previous home owners drive? Now why would you want to know that? Well, you can- Google Earth but I digress.

With this over abundance of information out there, just think of Covenant Realty as your professional spam filter to borrow an internet term. It’s your realtor's job to sift through the junk, so your focus can be on what it needs to be which is what brings value to you and your family.
As I’m writing this Mr. Bernanke, the nation’s Fed Chief just came out and seems to think that the housing real estate market is showing signs of a bottom. I’ll save my thoughts on this for next month. Place your bets.
