In the latest semi annual published rankings by D Magazine, Plano has taken the 18th spot.  The ranking list was created by using multiple factors.  The main 4 factors are safety, education, housing values and ambience.  To the Plano faithful, not to worry.  From a real estate perspective, the fact that Plano is basically land locked will only help Plano real estate values over all into the foreseeable future.  Also, with the expansion work being done on 75, this will only mean more accessibility and more demand for homes in our area down the road.

In other chart toppers, Plano’s neighbor Allen for the first time broke into the top 10 at #10.    This city has greatly been helped by the addition of the Watters Crossing shopping development, as well as more well planned retail shopping and dining going in across 75.  These shopping areas will be named “The Villages of Allen” and the ”The Villages of Fairview”.  With these developments, the extraordinary Allen school district, and many other value offering reasons, it is easy to see why this city is accelerating up the chart.

So who was the big winner from the latest standings?  It was Parker, Texas which is a close neighbor to Allen and Plano just a little East of these two suburbs.  It seems that good company tends to hang around each other.  If you’re not familiar with Parker, this is the city where the television series “Dallas” was filmed.  That big beautiful estate still stands today.   It looks like J.R. had good taste in real estate investment.

Below are a few of our neighbors and how they ranked:

Frisco 19th, Mckinney 24th, Richardson 30th, Garland 45th, Carrollton 40th, Addison 57th
