In our biased opinion, Canyon Creek is one of the hidden gems of Richardson that most people may not know about. A small town feel located near the city, Canyon Creek offers residents access to major highways as well as tons of entertainment and restaurants including the newly renovated Canyon Creek Country Club. You are likely to see families driving golf carts to and from the club which only adds to the familial atmosphere. Geographically, the neighborhood is located between Campbell, Renner, Collins and Floyd feeding into 3 different elementary schools – Canyon Creek, Prairie Creek and Aldridge Elementary.
With the recent surge in the housing market, home prices have gone up at a steady increase and this area is not as much of a secret as it’s been in the past. A new custom home building trend has emerged and it seems that there are homes on every street getting a makeover or rebuilt entirely. There are over 90 new builds or full professional renovations in the area and Covenant Home Builders is a key player in this market now. Once an older neighborhood, Canyon Creek has been injected with youth and vitality as a ton of young families are moving in for the exemplary schools and overall atmosphere. In addition, there are more and more families moving from popular neighborhoods in Dallas to the neighborhood. Many are looking to take advantage of Prairie Creek Elementary, one of the top elementary schools in the entire state of Texas.
Homes in this neighborhood range from being built in the 1950s to new construction. Prices range from low $300s to $1 million + depending on location and house size. A mix of traditional, craftsman, English and French Tudor and now Austin modern homes make Canyon Creek anything but cookie cutter. The towering trees lining the streets, the parks and the creek running through the neighborhood add character and charm that neighboring suburbs and cities don’t offer.
On any given evening you can see soccer practice going on at the park, families taking pictures near the waterfall, residents walking their dogs and in the summer, people flock to the country club pool. Neighborhood food favorites include Shady’s Hamburger joint, Frankie’s Mexican restaurant, Spin Pizza, Zoe’s Kitchen and if you have a sweet tooth, Sweet Firefly has you covered.
In addition, the new City Line development and Palisades development will offer even more high end retail and commercial to serve the neighborhood. We believe in this neighborhood so much in fact, our broker Ryan Kirkpatrick lives here!
